Jim Shelley & Book Of Kills

The Take Afterwards...

George, Mike and I jammed together Monday for a couple hours. It was the first time, of course, that we'd played together in four years. Keeping in mind that fact and the additional fact that (at least) I hadn't done any playing for months, other than recording (which is an entirely different process), I was quite surprised at how well (relatively speaking) we did. We ran through fourteen or fifteen songs. My brother was in attendance for the first four or five songs we played and he was impressed. Listening to the recording now, I cringe a bit at how rusty (and at times nearly awful) I was at handling solos but two days afterwards, I'm still amazed that we were able to pull off complete performances given the realization that we hadn't even played any of these songs in ages. It was great to see Mike again, but also very sad to spend two hours with him and George and then having to say goodbye for perhaps another two or three years. As far as those of you who asked if I'd attempt to put together a new band, I don't know. Rounding up a bassist and drummer? Playing again made me want to...well, play again. But. I just don't know...

As far as posting a song or two (or the ten minute "medley" I alluded to in a previous post), not very surprisingly my vocals are almost non-existent in the mix. Never the less, I'll probably upload a song or two  before too long. So check back. By the way, I haven't uploaded an album to CDBaby, iTunes, Amazon, and all the usual suspects yet. Haven't even decided which album to upload. Shouldn't be too long.
