I worked 2-3 hours today on getting the drum track figured out and recorded. I'll tell you this...I could do a lot more recording if it weren't for the drum part of the process. I can't tell you how many times I've found some vague excuse to avoid writing and recording a new song just because I couldn't face up to the trials of coming up with a new percussion track of some sort. I've produced a lot of songs in my time, but I'll bet there'd be at least a hundred more if it weren't for freaking drums. Gotta have 'em though. At least most of the time. It would be great if I knew a great drummer close by who understood my music and was always ready to lay down a new track or two whenever the inspiration struck me. But truthfully, the way I do it is probably the only real means by which I can create music with any regularity.
