Jim Shelley & Book Of Kills

One Done...

I just completed the first track for the tenth single. I'd rate it as definitely one of the better songs I've written and recorded for the Single of the Month series. Rather political, this one. I worked REALLY hard on it. Now it's on to the second song. I have an idea what I want to do musically, but I don't have any concrete notions concerning lyrics and arrangement just yet. It'll come. Always does.

To allay any apprehension, I can assure you that the singles will be mailed by late next week. The eleventh single will be completed and mailed in mid-July and the final single will (probably) be finished and mailed by late August. I'd like to make the final single a nice four-track thing similar to the acclaimed (really!) December four song disc (single #5, I think).

I've listened to some of the songs I've recorded over the last ten months. I have to say that I'm pretty pleased with the inventiveness and passion of most of them. I'd say there's only one single that I'm not particularly fond of; all of the others I'm quite proud of. I do think that I will go back to all of the discs and possibly re-mix them, since I tended to mix them rather quickly.

Allen Ginsberg was born on this day in 1926. That very possibly means much more to me than it does to you, but who knows?

I should also note that Deep Purple released DEEP PURPLE IN ROCK on this day in 1970. It's a great, great landmark album that proved to be immensely influential to future purveyors of hard rock and heavy metal.
