Last Thoughts On 2015

2015 was a fairly productive year for BOK. Six releases (a new record...5 being the previous high way back in 1995). 44 new or previously unreleased tracks issued on six different discs. I missed playing live, but not all that much. I never really seem to end up playing most of the stuff I want to play anyhow, so it's not that big of deal. More than anything when it comes to not being in a band, I guess I just miss the hanging out part. Playing live is always exciting, but it has always been tortuous for me. But when it comes to music, in the end it's the writing and recording that mean the most to me. There's no compromising in the studio. Everything's a compromise when you're in a band.

"[When I write a song] I try to get to these peculiar and particular things that you never say." -- Carly Simon

"It's actually very difficult to make something both simple and good." -- Paul Simon

"I'm always going forward towards something and that something is usually an album, because I like to record. I probably like to record more than I like to write." -- Paul Simon

"You feel like a prisoner if you don't create. You're jailed up inside yourself." -- Edie Brickell

"I've been lucky to listen to lots of different kinds of music." -- Elvis Costello
