I Had To Have The Music

The third single in the BOK Single of the Month series will be mailed out either Wednesday or Thursday of next week. It will feature three classic BOK songs..."Killing Time Again", "Blue Man", and "Stanley the Steamer". These recordings are unique in that they're quite raw...essentially "live" in the studio. Mike's drums and George's bass were recorded together back in 2009 and my vocal and guitar were added live in 2015, of course. I'm going to finish up working on the insert today. I hope to have the songs mixed and mastered by next Tuesday, and then I'll start printing and burning.

Couple of downers occurred on this day in rock and roll history: Creedence Clearwater Revival, one of my all-time favorite bands, announced they were disbanding on this day in 1972. It seems pretty unlikely that the three living members of the group will ever reunite. On this day in 2006, legendary punk venue CBGB's closed forever.

Not a downer at all: Also on this day in 1947, Bob Weir was born.

"What I like best about music is when time goes away."

"I don't know if I discovered that I had any talent. It was dogged persistence. I had to have the music."

"Songs go through cycles for me. And some sometimes I lose passion for some of them."

-- Bob Weir
