Happy Post-Life Birthday, Lou + The Karl Rove Revisited?
Happy Post-Life Birthday, Lou Reed. Lou was born on this day in 1943.
Monday I talked to both Johnny St. Ours and Aaron Farrington by phone. Both of them wanted to wish me a happy Leap Year birthday, but more importantly they wanted to talk about the possibility of reuniting The Karl Rove for at least a show or two in late 2016, just in time, I would assume, for the Presidential election in November. This is all pretty tentative. But, as I told Johnny and Aaron, I'd be up for getting back together. The only sticking points are: (1) I have a very old car (a thirteen year-old Rav4) and I don't know that I want to drive it over the mountain 45 miles to Charlottesville and back once or twice a week; (2) Johnny severely broke his ankle and will be out of commission for a while; (3) We're not sure who our drummer would be. I'm not sure if Billy Hunt would be available, or even willing, to play.
As I've said before, when I hang up my guitar for good (at least as a member of a performing band), I would like to think that I'd have one more go-round as a member of Book of Kills. However, I always really enjoyed playing with Johnny and Aaron (two of my most favorite people ever) and Billy, of course. So I'd like to think I'll be able to find a way to join up with those guys again.
