Jim Shelley & Book Of Kills

Addendum to ...and The Beatles...

Okay...I listened to the 1+ CD on a CD player (quaint concept, eh?) and discovered that most of the mixes were actually either mono (in the case of the first three songs) or very close to the original mixes. It's just, I guess, that the sound is so exceptionally detailed and dynamic now that they somehow sound significantly better. For example, "I Want to Hold Your Hand" just leaps out of the speakers now. "Paperback Writer" and "Penny Lane" sound like they were recorded last week!

Of course, I should add that listening to an album initially on a car stereo doesn't exactly give one optimum sound. Still, the CD sounded stunningly good nonetheless. Early reviews (all raves thus far) indicate that the sound on the blu-rays (which I still haven't played) is amazing. Unfortunately, I don't have a 5.1 sound system, so I'll have to be satisfied with the stereo mixes. We'll see. I'll report back with a more measured judgement.
